Advertisement for Ghana International Airlines. This advert was a joint
promotion with OneTouch/Ghana Telecom (now
Vodafone Ghana). Ghana
International Airlines (GIA) was the national airline of the Republic of
Ghana. The airline was set up in 2004 as a partnership between the
government of Ghana and a group of private international investors. Ghana
International Airlines commenced operations on 29 October 2005 with daily
flights between Accra and London Gatwick Airport using a Boeing 757
aircraft. The airline commenced seasonal service to OR Tambo International
Airport in Johannesburg, South Africa, in 2006. Flights to Düsseldorf,
Germany, began in 2008. The airline stopped operations in
May 2010. Ghana
International Airlines was known for providing cheap fares to Ghana for
passengers traveling between London
and Accra.
